It takes 40-45 days for a budgerigar chick (baby) to visually look like an adult.
Around 1 day: The hatchlings are completely helpless during the first days of growing. They are naked, they have closed eyes, and they are unable to lift their heads.
Around 10 days: The eyes of the 10-day-old chicks begin to open, and their feathers begin to grow.
Around 14 days: The chicks’ feathers begin to show their original colors and mutations.
Around 30 days: Chicks begin to stretch and flap their wings to practice flying and grow protective feathers. The chicks start to get out of their nests to explore the environment.
Around 35 days: Chicks begin to spend their most time out of the nest. The parents continue to feed and protect them from dangers even if they are out of the nest.
Around 45 days: Budgerigar chicks are starting to look exactly like adults now. Usually, the parents stop taking care of them at this time of growing period, they are fully weaned.
